Barry Kamen: If It Is

£55

Barry Kamen: If It Is commemorates the first major solo exhibition of the late British artist, held at Graces Mews in 2025. The show centred on his film works—digitised and sequenced by the gallery from a recently recovered archive of the artist’s 35mm film reels—and offered an intimate encounter with Kamen’s visceral and experimental processes. Selected works on paper and canvas were also presented, including a group of early large-scale abstract paintings from Caged Waits (1991–93).

The publication brings together early portraits of Kamen at work, imagery of previously unexhibited works from his archive and stills from his films. It also includes essays by Florence Woodfield-Morais, Associate Director and curator of the Barry Kamen Estate; and writer Matthew James Holman and commissioned collages of the show by artists Tyrone Lebon and Frank Lebon.
